Sexism is an umbrella term for discrimination based on gender at multiple levels of analysis, e.g., both individual acts and systems. Thus it can be seen as encompassing a variety of ideas, systems, and positions that intersect with or stem from cultural and normative conceptions of sex and gender presentation.
